William has been making presentations about his China life and work to audiences since 1986. Over the decades he has made presentations in China, the UK, the US and Japan, Some of the best known venues he has spoken at include the American Association of Archeology (San Francisco), The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Carleton College (Minnesota), The Explorers Club (New York), The Asia Society (Hong Kong), The Royal Geographical Society (Hong Kong), The Foreign Correspondents Club (Hong Kong), The Royal Society for Asian Affairs (London), The International Academic Forum (Tokyo), The Terracotta Warriors Exhibition at the World Museum, Liverpool and the Society of Antiquaries (Newcastle University).

Post-covid, since the start of 2023, William has spoken to audiences from YPO (Young Presidents Organisation), EO (The Entrepreneurs Organisation), The Royal Asiatic Society (Beijing Branch).
